Women in Science
and Engineering (WISE) at UIC
UIC has a great support organization for women in
science and engineering. They have a listserv that sends out weekly
announcements of opportunities for UIC women in science and
engineering. I encourage all of my female students to subscribe.
How to subscribe:
Send an email to listserv (at) uic (dot) edu
In the body of the message type: SUBSCRIBE WISE YOURFIRSTNAME

WISE also has a mentoring
program that is open to UIC undergrads and grad students to mentor
and be mentored. Apply now to participate!

Cool opportunities for undergrads
I strongly encourage my students to investigate the
internship opportunities available in their field of interest. Summer
internship deadlines are typically in February and March so it pays to
starting searching in November and December (it's a great winter break
activity!). I am including here some general links to programs for
undergrads in the sciences.

Studying Abroad
Studying abroad was
one of the best things I did in college. There are many scholarships
and financial aid available. Don't rule it out! If you're interested at
all in studying abroad, the first thing you should do is attend
an information session with the UIC
Study Abroad Office.
